Microsoft has just released a free new application for the iOS platform on Tuesday called HelpBridge. It has been created to make it easier for friends and families to connect with each other in the time of disaster, such as when hurricanes, floods, and other natural or unnatural emergencies strike.
The application makes it easy to send e-mails, text messages, and post to Facebook to reach those you care about. From the main screen, there are links to easily notify people that you need help, or that you're okay (you're still advised to call 911 if you need emergency help during a disaster):
In addition, users can use the application to help others that have been affected by disasters by donating money through their PayPal or via text-to-give. Users will also be able to donate items to those affected by these disasters or volunteer their time towards efforts for disaster relief.
The application is not a bad idea, bringing everything together in one location, however you can already send messages to your family members or friends without the application, so it isn?t something that everyone is going to need. You will also need to have a Microsoft account to use the application, as you will have to sign in.
