Wines to Pour at Your Holiday Feasts ? One Delicious Main Course ...

By Glen Frederiksen

Beginning with the obligatory Thanksgiving Day stuffing and ending with a celebratory toast on New Year?s Eve, Americans engage (en-gorge?) in six weeks of overeating like at no other time of the year.

Office parties, football game parties, gatherings of friends, and many religion-inspired events all have one thing in common: food. And lots of it.

?Tis the season of fine dining. But what about the wining?

In the days to come, Dear Reader, your Humble Scribe will provide a comprehensive guide to holiday feasts with wine. Most of these festive food orgies have one thing in common: They feature time-tested, traditional main courses.

This guide will explore several succulent suspects, and will recommend pleasing potent potables ? wines approved by the Wine Lines Online tasting panel of yours truly, Bob Johnson and Tom Madrecki. Chances are you?ll be serving? or you?ll be served? one or more of these dishes in the weeks ahead.

Here?s our posting schedule:

? December 14 ? Standing Prime Rib Roast.

? December 15 ? Rack of Lamb.

? December 16 ? Honey Glazed Ham.

? December 17 ? Roast Pork.

? December 18 ? Lobster Tails.

? December 19 ? Venison.

On Christmas Eve, while the kids are sipping hot chocolate and getting the warm milk and cookies ready for Santa, check back with us for a number of sparkling wine recommendations for the next big ?Eve? ? New Year?s Eve.

Then on the day after Christmas, we?ll begin the countdown of Wine Lines Online?s ?Top 10 Wines of 2012,? all leading to the unveiling of the 2012 Wine Lines Online ?Wine of the Year.?

Along the way, both the Happy Cooker and Bob Johnson will check in with bonus blogs ? Mary?s dealing with nifty holiday gift ideas, and Bob?s with holiday wine songs.

So, be sure to check back with us often during these final days of the year as we close out 2012 in style.
