Texas secession petition nearing 115,000 signatures

From Eric Dondero: In the last week nearly 100,000 signatures have been added to the petition. (The required number to trigger an official White House response is 25,000). The rate of growth in the total number of signatures has sped up in the last 24 to 48 hours. Some media are pointing out that the number of signatures, which now stands at exactly 113,260 is equivalent to nearly .5% of the total population of the State of Texas. At this rate, we could see 120,000 signatures by the end of the weekend, perhaps 150,000 by the end of next week, and maybe close to 200,000 in 10 days time. As a measure stick, the Texas secession petition is far ahead of any of the other 198 petitions at the White House site. The closest ironically, is an Obama impeachment petition with 33,000 signers, and a legalize marijuana petition has 28,000. Most of the other 198 petitions languish in the couple hundred to 4,000 to 5,000 range of signatures. Of particular note, the Oklahoma secession petition has nearly 10,000, the Tennessee petition at 30,000, and Louisiana a whopping 32,000. (Tex-ohma-ana with an outpost in Tennessee?) That's a startling message being sent to moderates and mainstreamers who are now pushing the Republican Party away from core principles and urging compromise with Obama and the Democrats.
